Andrea Tacchella NEBRAIE was founded in 2014 and is family owned.
In addition to vineyards, the other crops cultivated are hay, legumes and ancient wheat. The project was created with the idea of reviving a once vibrant territory of Val Borbera high atop the mountains of Novi Ligure, where Piemonte & Liguria meet. It was known for the production of Timorasso and other (now unknown) native grapes, that Andrea hopes to re-introduce back to their native land.
The project began with a careful recuperation of the family lands, respecting biodiversity and the principles of organic agriculture (certified since 2019 and self-certified since birth). The company is located in Val Borbera in the heart of the Ligurian Apennines but still in the province of Alessandria at an altitude between 450 and 600 meters above sea level.
The climate is characterized by cooler temperatures than in the nearby (lower) hilly areas. The area is windy and very often the cool "marine" climate arrives, bringing with it the mild temperatures of the sea. To promote biodiversity and life in all its forms, Andrea has 30 beehives which different types of honey are obtained: acacia, thyme, chestnut, wildflower. The vineyard area is 4 hectares divided into 3 plots, one of which, NEBRAIE, gives its name to the farm.
The vines are planted to Timorasso in clayey soils, with a significant presence of shells and moderately calcareous. What characterizes the Terroir is above all the presence in the subsoil of reddish gray schists and Savignone conglomerates and large round sedimentary rock formations. The vineyards are all between 500 and 600 m a.s.l. and exposed to the South West.
